As a Doctor of Chinese medicine, teacher of voice and the Alexander
Technique, and former opera singer, Dr. James takes pride in offering an
integrated approach to healing. Through the combination of acupuncture,
moxibustion, guasha, cupping, Chinese herbs, Alexander Technique, qigong,
and voice work, he strives to provide optimum healing for his clients.
Dr. James is a graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, the
New England Conservatory, Alexander Technique New York City, AOMA
Graduate School of Integrative Medicine and Five Branches University. He
combines over 10 years of study and practice of Chinese medicine with 15 years
of Alexander Technique teaching experience.
His journey into integrative medicine began with personal challenges– to
improve his mobility, pain and singing. He studied Alexander Technique as a
tool for his own opera singing and then trained to teach the technique at
AT-NYC under John Nicholls and Nanette Walsh. Jameson uses the Alexander
Technique to address the root of habits which often lead to disease. By
improving breathing, posture and movement, the technique can help relieve
back pain, neck pain, headache, stress, improve mobility, resolve balance issues,
address lack of coordination, lessen the ‘fear reaction’ triggered by change, and
alleviate voice problems.
In addition to his doctoral training and licensing in Traditional Chinese
Medicine, he studied ancient Japanese techniques–including pediatric shonihari
with Senseis Kuwahara and Manaka in Japan, Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture
with Martha Lucas in Boulder, and the Shen/Hammer school of Neoclassical
Pulse studies with Dr. William Morris in Canada.
On a personal note, Jameson loves opera. In fact, he lived in NYC for nearly ten
years singing and studying with some of the best in the world. Occasionally, you
will hear him sing with some local opera groups and even in the office. When he
is not working with patients, he loves to cook with foraged mushrooms, tend to his flock of chickens, sing opera, run or hike the trails, or even practice some yoga.
Hi there! I am Skye.
I have always held a deep passion and curiosity about the human body; from childhood to now, I have participated in movement arts and held genuinely nerdy enthusiasm for anatomy and physiology. Much of my enthusiasm has previously been expressed through teaching yoga and barre fitness classes. My experience with embodiment through movement has always drawn me to be curious with bodywork. I attended East West College of the Healing Arts and have only gained more excitement for providing nurturing, supportive, and intentional massage therapy.
Consent and open communication are at the core of my therapeutic approach. I understand that every person who walks through my door brings their own unique history, experiences, and boundaries. By fostering a safe and respectful environment, I strive to ensure that each of my clients feel empowered and comfortable throughout their massage sessions. Their trust and active participation in the process are paramount to achieving the best possible outcomes.
My bodywork style is inspired by myofascial release, deep tissue, Swedish, and Thai massage modalities; blending these techniques allows me to provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience that caters to the specific needs of each individual client.
